Oregon Trout's 25th Anniversary Benefit Dinner & Auction

Every day, we hear the platitudes: use less gas, waste less water, print less paper—all these ways to shrink our ripple effect on the planet. So we recycle, we walk and bike more, we try to buy local.

Things we do today affect the world tomorrow. We get that. But we humans have a funny relationship with time. We tend to live in the here and now. Is all this doing “less” really helping in a meaningful way?

Starting today, we invite you to do more.

You see, that ripple effect works both ways. Shrink your footprint and minimize your negative effect on the world in future years. That’s good. Expand your positive action today and amplify that beneficial effect over time. That’s even better.

At Oregon Trout, we fix rivers. A lot of our restoration work has immediate effect (think restoring flow to a dry channel). Much of it has effects better evaluated years or even decades later (think planting streamside trees). All of it has a ripple effect over time that helps boost freshwater ecosystems, preparing them for the future pressures of population growth and climate change.

We aim to expand our positive action by fixing rivers faster. We have developed a system to dramatically increase the scale and pace of restoration statewide (click here to learn more).
