Middle Fork John Day River.

Middle Fork John Day

In summer 2006, we launched the Middle Fork John Day Channel Relocation and Riparian Restoration Project, a multi-phase effort to restore 3 miles of the Middle Fork John Day River (MFJDR) to its historic channel. By reconnecting the currently straightened river to its remnant historic channel, recreating additional historic meanders, and replanting the riparian area, we seek to restore normal (historic) stream and riparian form and function to benefit the MFJDR’s native fish. Project is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2008 and be completed in 2009.
